Climathon is an established 32h Climate - Ideathon format and invites a diverse set of change makers to engage in bottom-up climate innovation. Together with our partners, we aim to connect and inspire participants to engage more in the local climate community to drive the transition towards a more sustainable economy.
This impact measurement is based on data collected from Climathon participants: 42 participants responded to our survey out of a total population of 82, corresponding to a margin of error of 10.6%. The results are not representative of the opinion of all Climathon participants and should be perceived with caution, but are nonetheless useful for gaining a better understanding of the effects of the Climathon on participants and areas for improvement.
Climathon is an event that successfully brings together a diverse set of stakeholders to drive climate action. We notice that our participants are young adults, 68% are between 26-35 years old. 61% of participants are women and the vast majority is coming to Climathon for the 1st time. Diverse organisational backgrounds as well as main skills in sustainability, business and entrepreneurship can be observed. Next year, we would like to organise the event again, keeping the diversity of backgrounds and genders. Moreover, we would like to include participants who bring more creative and technical skills to the table and would like to increase the age diversity.
All respondents have mentioned to have benefitted in at least one way from Climathon. The network expansion was the most declared impact for all participants. (33/42 respondents). Followed by motivation generation (27/42) and then « I was inspired to engage more in the thematic of climate” (23/42). Overall, the goal to connect change makers and inspire them to be more engaged could be met.
One of the main objective of Climathon is to foster the ecosystem around climate action. We can observe that 76% of the participants feel inspired to be more engaged in their city and 80% agree that Climathon has helped them expand their network. In terms of mid-term impact, we notice that 50% plan to follow up on their idea. Moreover, one of the main objective of Climathon is to foster the ecosystem around climate action. By including more companies in the next year, we hope to create more visibility for job opportunities in the field of sustainability.
